Locall Motion is the innovation of Heidi Garborg-Mueller, a mental health professional who guides walking groups through their own communities while teaching them the tools and skills they need to take control of their lives. As this experiential learning continues to receive positive evidence-based research, Heidi wanted her web presence to be ready and waiting.
At first, Heidi thought she would build her website on her own, but she soon thought otherwise: “As I looked into it I realized I didn’t know what anything meant. I’m not a computer-savvy person at all so I was fearful of things like what happens if I click this—Is it spam or a virus even? But ultimately I needed a website for my business, and I knew nothing. I wanted to learn, but I didn’t want to learn all the ins and outs, so I wanted to pay someone else to do it, and then I met Rebecca.”
Web Pages That Sell partners with both clients who have developed their own websites for years and those who desire to learn what they need to know as their business grows. Upon meeting Heidi, Rebecca was taken with Locall Motion’s creative and enriching mission around physical and mental well-being within nature and the community. Rebecca planned a path specifically for Heidi to explore and find a web presence that reflected this mission. “Our businesses are very personal to us,” Rebecca says. “They are our name and our soul and our passion, so it can be a scary thing putting ourselves into our web presence. Rarely does one know entirely what needs to be done, and Heidi is a passionate mental health coach and educator, so elevating her mission was of utmost importance to us.”
Recognizing the sensitive nature of mental health, Rebecca approached Heidi’s website with a great deal of research. As a business that integrates holistic methods with community, Rebecca and her team focused strongly on this aspect, particularly in regard to language. As Heidi puts it, “I needed to stress that I’m not a therapist. The language I use needs to be very particular. And with some research and thought, we identified terminology, like ‘holistic,’ that fits well with how community is regarding mental health.”
The Web Pages That Sell team also designed the graphics with mental health in mind. “What I was surprised most by was how much I liked the color. Rebecca picked the color green, which was amazing because it was mental health month. She came up with a great logo and helped me also come up with the catchphrase ‘Walking to Empower,’ and all together it represents the pathway to recovery. Coming up with that logo and the color and the catchphrase probably was the best because there’s nothing really out there even close to that design.”
While the Web Pages That Sell development team worked on the website, Heidi prepared herself for making the most of her web presence for her new business. Web Pages That Sell hosts an immense network of resource links, and Rebecca recommended Content Camp as a means of learning what the Locall Motion website would be capable of and how Heidi could prepare and publish her best content. “That was very valuable for me because it made me understand more of what Rebecca’s team does,” Heidi recalls. “It made me a little more accountable, even though it was overwhelming, but even if a person isn’t going to do all the ins and outs, I think it’s still important to understand the basics. I liked it. It really opened my eyes.”
Since Locall Motion launched, Heidi’s audience has found it provides the information they need and want to know. As importantly, the website has increased her confidence: “I still am very nervous about the techie stuff, but my website has given me confidence. Once it went live, I was like, ‘Shhh, don’t tell anybody.’ But that’s when I started to tell people. So I think it just increased my confidence that I can do this.”
Rebecca regularly engages with Heidi to be sure she has the resources she needs when she’s ready to move from updating her site to blogging and beyond. What’s most important for now is that Locall Motion’s web presence is waiting for her business instead of waiting on her website.
“Rebecca’s patience and compassion for other people has been just wonderful for me. I really, really respected that wholeheartedly. Yeah, that's the biggest thing. It helped increase my self-esteem and self-confidence.”
