Frank Grossman is a masterful consultant and writer for those seeking employment in the ever-changing job market, but after move than 20 years in a variety of career advising and strategy roles, his Resumes That Shine website—created in 2014–did not reflect his talent, wisdom, and dedication. “It was done by a friend of a friend who wanted to get started in the web business,” Frank recalls. “The website needed to be updated—the pricing on it was way out of date, the information about how I work was out of date—and I couldn’t update it myself. I had to do something.”
Having heard positive things about Web Pages That Sell among members of the National Résumé Writers’ Association, Frank inquired with some of Rebecca’s clients, who all reported being able to work easily with their website after she’d led the redesign, so he reached out to her.
Frank was articulate about what he wanted with the new web presence: achieve top-of-mind awareness with potential clients, easily and regularly update the website, and provide a simple means for payment among the most popular payment services. While working with Frank on how to achieve this, Rebecca tapped into his core motivation and applied it to the redesign. “Frank has amazing knowledge that improves the lives of his clients, whether they’re seeking a first job, dealing with a job loss, or embarking on a career move. He’s an individual who thrives on helping others through their professional milestones. And he wanted to run things, such as the blog and media page, on his own site—all he needed was the foundation and tools to do it.”
As WPTS developed the website, Rebecca curated a reading list for Frank so he would be ready to make the most of his new web presence. “That was one of the biggest positives I got from the process,” Frank says. “Rebecca sent me a lot of reading on marketing on the web and how to write content and that sort of thing. That was something I hadn’t expected, and I see it as a positive because I love learning new things that aren’t really in my field, but she made me realize how important understanding marketing would benefit my resume and LinkedIn Profile writing.”
Since the website launched, Frank has found updating the blog so straightforward that he posts a blog article almost every week, and this cadence has led him to the top-of-mind awareness he aimed to achieve: Resumes That Shine is at the top of Google results for his region. “I am the number one search result for resume writers in Philadelphia at this point, and people are finding me and calling me for resume work, and that is something that’s a direct result of Rebecca’s work.”
In addition to new clients, those from his past are also resurfacing: “I’m increasingly seeing customers come back, even if I did their resume a couple of years ago. They are staying aware of me largely as a result of the blog, and they post about it to social media, so I’m getting enough unique views that new customers are finding me on Google and through LinkedIn. Rebecca set up the framework that’s realized this top-of-mind awareness.”
Frank’s work and examples are now available to everyone, and it’s also easy for customers to make payments through their preferred payment service. Over the past year, though, the pandemic and its fallout on the economy saw Frank working in an unprecedented environment. “It’s important for me to help out the job seekers, whether they ultimately buy from me or not, because it’s terribly difficult for people when, say, they’re suddenly downsized and they have to look for work. I want to give them tips and let them know they’re not alone.” Frank’s blog has been the vehicle for him to offer this assistance.
Witnessing Frank’s dedication to lifting others has inspired Rebecca. “Frank’s focus on helping job seekers over this past year of uncertainty is the model of a creative and adaptive professional at the top of his game. His blog offers hope, understanding, and actionable steps for people to take. Making sure Frank had everything he needed to reach out to the world was an experience that WPTS thrives on—connecting individuals to be the best they can be.”
With the WPTS Maintenance and Security packages, Frank and Rebecca continue partnering monthly to ensure Frank can continue his work with ease. “It’s really helpful because by having to prepare for the one-hour consultation every month, it gets me to review my Google analytics results, and Rebecca goes over all that with me. I’ll be talking to her tomorrow in fact.” Rebecca is looking forward to the conversation.
“I am the number one search result for resume writers in Philadelphia at this point, and people are finding me and calling me for resume work directly from my Google search results rather than from my proactive outreach through LinkedIn. This is something that's a direct result of Rebecca's work.”
